Iceland. Breakthrough gas dependence.

An inquisitive mind and an analytical approach to assessing the importance of green hydrogen and digital technologies, the topic of which has recently been rethought about mining green bitcoin, make us take a fresh look at old, established locations. Europe, with its activity in promoting environmentally friendly technologies, combating greenhouse emissions, uses large budgets, but still has to cover a significant percentage of energy consumption from fossil fuels. This dependence is used and Europe becomes the lady of not always a knightly tournament, when there is fierce fencing on pipelines (Nord Stream 1-2 Vs Baltic pipe Vs TANAP / TAP, etc.). The unstable political and economic situation, as well as the risks of infrastructure failure, put Europe in a dependent, vulnerable position, which is forced to choose among complex “knights”. The diversification of supplies with the possibility of using LNG is superficial, there is no real diversification associated with a significant replacement for clean energy carriers such as green hydrogen.

If we pay attention to the application of projects related to the use of geothermal renewable energy for Europe, then first of all we should pay attention to Iceland, where geothermal sources generate more than 40% of energy and have been used for more than 70 years. One of the most interesting directions in the development of the possibilities of using geothermal energy is the Icelandic project of deep drilling to a depth of more than 5 km to obtain hydrothermal fluids with temperatures up to 600 ° C, the purpose of which is to increase the economic potential of high temperature geothermal resources. Several dozen geothermal projects focused on high-temperature fields with a total capacity according to some data of more than 50.00 GWh / year, as well as huge reserves of low-temperature fields for the use of advanced binary turbines can and should be used to produce green hydrogen based on the electrolysis of seawater for supply to the UK and Europe via pipeline construction. Each kilometer of such a pipeline is much more efficient than a traditional pipeline for natural gas, if only because there is about two and a half times more energy in a kilogram of hydrogen than in natural gas. The length of such a pipeline from Iceland to the nearest point in England is approximately 900 km, which is comparable to the longest pipeline Nord Stream 1.234 km. Such a truly internal European project will make it possible to really diversify energy supplies towards green hydrogen, to meet the requirements of decarbonization of the economy. Of course, it is important to take into account the level of development of digital technologies in Iceland, which has become a real Mecca for mining. The activation of the issue of mining green bitcoin puts Iceland at the head of such a trend with the possibility of forming new global requirements and rules for the mining industry as a component of the new economy. It is necessary to use such a favorable location for the purpose of equitable mutual integration for the synergy of industries (green hydrogen, digital technologies).
