The lack of an integrated approach, fragmentation and withdrawal in the development of narrow areas of hydrogen technology, huge costs of the practical implementation of the entire chain of production technology, the use of green hydrogen raise some doubts in the implementation of such projects. Anyone interested in this exciting new hydrogen technology sees beautiful colours but blurry images. The creators of various useful innovations of green hydrogen technology bring to perfection each of their puzzles, which should be embedded in the overall composite picture and see the ultimate goal of the common work. How can you make sure that the puzzle will be the correct component in this picture and with its entire shape, bends will harmoniously fit into specific requirements, will correspond to the fulfilment of the assigned tasks? And most importantly, how to build the entire huge system of the hydrogen technology chain in the absence of understandable models? Optimism on the use of some components of previous fossil fuel technologies can be justified without any models where they use hydrogen or is it enough to calculate in some numbers and the results of laboratory work? Without a model, without a systemic model from A to Z to spend billions, trillions of dollars? Does it seem to me alone that this causes some uncertainty and confusion? And what about the problems of legislative approvals, standards of interstate regulation, and so on? On the basis of what practically confirmed data and with the use of whose recommendations should regulatory generally accepted standards be developed? Billions, trillions of dollars?
Elchin Mammadov, BI Senior Industry Analyst, said: “Governments will need to develop new policies and regulation and initially offer subsidies such as contracts for difference, high carbon prices or low taxes, faster deployment of low-cost renewable energy to address the chicken- and-egg problem facing hydrogen producers, infrastructure operators, and potential consumers.
Creation of a model as a testing ground where all components of the entire chain of green hydrogen technology are reproduced 1:1 – an effective and only way out of the dead end, a knot of problems formed in reality. There are such attempts, and one can only once again be convinced of the seriousness of the British, their balanced, cautious approach to the study of such issues. Perhaps this covers only a part of what is necessary for learning, but this is at least some kind of practical model.
The creation of a compact production, transportation, system of consumers of green hydrogen as a model of a global system seems to be more successful. Japan may become the most successful model for creating an array of information that will be the basis for the implementation of green hydrogen projects in any location. Of course, a logical continuation of this approach will be the application of the principle of intellectual property as a commodity, with all its bonuses as such.
